April is Autism Awareness month and this is in honor of all the children and adults with Autism who struggle daily with the challenges of Autism.

Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder that typically lasts throughout a person’s lifetime. People with ASD have problems with social and communication skills. Many people with ASD also have unusual ways of learning, paying attention, or reacting to sensations. It is part of a group of disorders known as Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). In most cases its causes are unknown. Persons with autism may possess the following characteristics in various combinations and in varving degrees pf severity.
- Inappropriate laughing/ giggling
- No real fear of dangers
- Apparent insensitivity to pain
- May not want cuddling
- May avoid eye contact
- May prefer to be alone
- Difficulty in expressing needs
- Inappropriate attachments to objects
- Insistence of sameness
- Echoes words/ phrases
- Spins objects or self
